Kengo Kuma completely reimagined the previous CAM building – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, designed by the British architect Leslie Martin and opened in 1983. The profound reconfiguration of the CAM is part of a project that aims to establish a greater connection between the building and the wider area of the Gulbenkian Garden.
